Landscape Design in Orlando
A Yard Plan Built for Central Florida
Good landscape design in Orlando starts with the yard you actually have: sandy soil, hard summer sun, afternoon storms and water that has to go somewhere. At GreenWorks Landscape Solutions we plan front yards, backyards, pool areas and full-yard redesigns for homeowners around Central Florida, with plants picked to handle the heat. Then our own crew puts the plan in the ground.
How Our Design Process Works
From the first walk-through to the last plant, here's what to expect.
- We come out, walk the yard with you and give you a free estimate.
- We look at sun and shade, the soil, where water drains and how you use the space.
- We put together a plan with plant choices, bed layout and any irrigation or drainage changes.
- You look it over, and we adjust it before anything goes in the ground.
- Our own crew installs it, so the people who planned it are part of the build.
We design around your sun, soil, drainage and the way you use the yard, so the plan still works after a few Florida summers, not just on the day it’s planted.
What a Design Can Include
A plan can be as small as a new front bed or as big as a full-yard redesign. Most of ours pull from these pieces:
Planting Plans & Beds
Sod & Lawn Areas
Accent Lighting
Seasonal Color
Irrigation Layout
Drainage Fixes
Who Designs Your Yard
Your plan comes from Walter, our owner. He grew up in the green industry, mixing soil and planting palms at his parents’ nursery in Colombia, and went on to earn a degree in landscape design and plant science. He also holds irrigation and Florida-friendly plant certifications.
That shows up in the details. Plants get picked for how they’ll grow in Orlando heat and sandy soil, not just how they look the first week. And since the same company plans it, installs it and can keep the lawn cut and healthy afterward, nothing gets lost between the drawing and the finished yard. We’re family-owned, licensed and insured.
Design for Businesses and HOAs
This page is mostly about homes, but we also plan entrances, common areas and grounds for businesses and community associations. See our commercial landscaping services or our HOA landscaping and maintenance page for that side of the work.
Common Questions About Landscape Design
Is it worth paying a landscape designer?
For a small bed refresh, probably not. For a new home, a full-yard redesign, or a yard with shade or drainage problems, a plan usually pays for itself. It keeps you from buying plants that die in the wrong spot or pulling out shrubs that outgrew the space a few years later. Our on-site estimates are free, so you can find out what a plan would involve before you spend anything.
What's the difference between a landscaper and a landscape designer?
A landscaper does the physical work: planting, sod, mulch, mowing and trimming. A landscape designer plans the space first, choosing plants, bed layout, lighting and how water moves across the yard. Some companies only do one. We do both, so the person who plans your yard works with the crew that installs it. (Landscape architects are a separately licensed profession and often handle large commercial or public projects. We’re designers, not landscape architects.)
How long does a landscape design and install take?
It depends on the size of the job. A smaller project like a new front bed usually moves quickly once the plan is set. A full backyard with irrigation or drainage work takes longer, and summer storms can push dates around. We’ll talk through timing for your yard when we come out for the estimate.
